Really fun! Enjoyed it a lot. The Fonic Atre's are cool characters awesome and weapon selection is wide! I don't know if its as good as the PS2 Version because I've never played it. I highly recommend!

This game is awesome i played my friends and i was sitting on couch playing it for at least 2 hours! He keeps saying umm.. are you done yet? One thing i suggest get it quickly they get sold out fast!

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

I have played about 75% of all the tales of games, although this one never stood out to me even on the ps2, i decided to give it a try being that im a fan, but sadly this game was a let-down. The game is meant to be played on a big screen. The port is a half-assed way to get people to buy the game. the 3d was less than great. and the story and characters felt very dull, nothin in this game kept me going. luckily, one bad game in a series doesnt stop me from getting the next. so tales of graces f here i come :D

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

I've never been a huge fan of this style RPG, with the simulated MMORPG gameplay for the fight sequences. Once I got reasonably used to that, I found that it was really enjoyable. It has a wonderful story and great graphics. I really enjoyed the characters and miniskits that helped expand the story and give the story more depth. I beat it after about 40+ hours without any kind of guide, now I'm playing through again with a strategy guide to find all the secret stuff.

I hadn't heard of the tales series before this sadly. I feel like I have been missing out on a lot of fun. This game was perfect for the 3DS. It was a great first time RPG game for me. I loved all of the characters and animations. I want more of the Tales series so I pre-ordered Tales of Graces and am looking into Tales of Vesperia. I can't wait :D... Overall I was OVERLY satisfied with Tales of the Abyss 3DS

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

First off know this is a Japanese style rpg. But I love anime so it made this game that more amazing. Its a real time rpg not turn based which is great for how much can be going on in a fight. There is also a normal or hard mode to play on and can be switched during the game at anytime.
the main characters were all unique and the story line is told in full audio voice casting. So here are my true felling on what stood out the most...
*Story-If your into anime or a adventure style games where you use fonic artes to cast spells or attack with your weapons. The game is long (im playing on Hard takes a lot longer) already clocking in 44 hours and the main conflict is going on in the game so still many hours to the story plus the extra for side quests and bosses.
*Gameplay- fast paced action rpg. you can play as any character as your main on the field or in battle. good unique magic i never sen in a game before. and the characters all grew stronger throughout the game so it never gets dull. Also your able you combine different artes into new ones with the help of other members casting spells and leaving FOF.
Loading!!- One of the best things that made this game stick out so much is no loading times! you can run into a monster on the map and the fight instantly starts. loading and saving. makes it enjoyable to keep at a good pace for the games.
*Challenging- If played on normal im sure the game would be much faster progressed through. but I been playing on Hard and EVERY boss I fought i had to try at least twice. that's how hard a challenge it can be.
*Customization- A LOT of rpgs lack this! This one doe not. You can use to four spells on the D pad using B+(direction) your computer teammates are open to use all their spells at will. you can play as whichever character you chose to be. you can set your teammates at id they heal,support,attack,magic attack,how much magic to use, and what to keep a eye on for hp or magic. later in teh game you unlock more customization with spells to change their effects and make them grow stronger.
*Graphics- Its a anime stile so its not all perfect graphics i would say to be honest 7/10 for the normal cut screens and battle game play is so fun that i enjoy the way it looks. 3D yes but overall it looks nice.
This is a very in depth rpg game that will give you a fun and challenging experience while laughing at some parts of the game. the story line and villains are what you want and are exciting fights. this game is worth the buy if you want a fast paced game with long hours. I imagine i might clock in around 70 hours with everything.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

Tales of the Abyss 3DS is a direct port of the original ps2 version of Tales of the Abyss. Everything is just how i remembered it when i played the original. The gameplay is a lot of fun. The battle system is probably the best thing about the gameplay. The battles take place in real time and you use regular attacks with the A button and special attacks called artes with b and the circle pad. If you have ever played a tales game before, each game is pretty much the same but with little changes to the battle system. The game also has really good music along with it. The characters are not as likeable as past tales games have had but the cast isn't that bad. My only complaint is that the main character Luke is a selfish annoying brat in the beginning of the game . The graphics seem to be worse then the original ps2 game as the characters are kind of jagged and so are the backgrounds. The 3D is horrible in this game and add's little to the overall gameplay. The game has a lot of replay value as some side quests aren't even unlocked until the second playthrough. If you don't do any of the sidequests you are looking at a 40+ hour game. This game has a lot of sidequests which makes it less linear as some other games I have played. Overall the game is very enjoyable. The skits aren't voiced like in tales of vesperia but I still enjoyed this title the third time through.

Tales of the Abyss is truly one of the best RPGs, not only on the 3DS but of all time. The story is fantastic and truly engaging throughout. The characters are all very human and well written. The battle system is also quite tight and precise with enough growth and variation to keep you thoroughly entertained from start to finish to post-game. There is a new game plus option with varying difficulties and an upgrade shop for subsequent playthroughs to add or subtract challenges. All in all, a very wise purchase for your 3DS.
