Xenoblade Chronicles is without a doubt one of my favorite games on any console. I first saw an ad for it on gamestop.com looking for a game for my kid sister, and I was guessing that this game would be overhyped and overpriced. I was wonderfully mistaken, however, for this game is a creator's best wishes, and it's worth every penny. I used to hate JRPGs , because it seemed like it was taking too long to get the fight over with and move on with a storyline. Xenoblade made the turn-based fights much quicker in a sense because you could quickly press buttons in synchronization with your warrior, or you could jam a whole bunch of turns at once, watch the actions, and strategically time another string of attacks for your needs. It's somewhat like Kingdom Hearts, because you can do the normal attack and just keep pressing that button and win the battle, or you can pick out different moves and win with a more rewarding result.

Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite franchises, so I mean it when aspects of Xenoblade show a hint of Twilight Princess. The characters all have a solid and dynamic story, the music sounds like something from LoZ, the story itself isn't the kind you always see, and it's a good balance of emotions so you aren't so depressed that you just lost all of your HP or mad that you can't skip all of the cutscenes (you can though, only if you want to have no idea what's going on). Twilight Princess gave you that, and so does Xenoblade.

To be honest I haven't played Endless Ocean for very long, but it has the best graphics on wii and has a seemingly endless world to explore. Xenoblade surprised me when I saw such amazing visuals. Half of the time, I'd get to a new place, spend forever gazing open-mouthed at the scenery, and then remember I still had a mission to accomplish. THIS IS A GOOD THING. I wouldn't want to go through an entire level, beat it, and forget where it was or what it looked like. I want to remember it, like the ending scenes of a fantastic movie. Xenoblade gave me the memories of fantastic wide open areas and breathtaking views. Even if all the game was just walking around, I'd still pay full price for the scenery.

There were a few things I didn't like though, but they shouldn't change your mind about getting the game. One of the problems was the fact that they had default names. This isn't too bad, because you change characters a lot. In Pokemon and LoZ, you can choose your character's name, but you never change characters, so the fact you can't change these names isn't too bad. One thing I wished for was that the characters didn't talk, because I hate it when the voice changes the entire mood of the game. But the game developers had a good fix for this. It's great that they have multiple characters, so it's not awkward for you to talk when others are with you talking too. They also made the characters have a more British accent, so I actually took them more seriously, and it made the girl much hotter for some reason.

SO, IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE SHORTER SUMMARY...
The graphics were amazing,
The music was the perfect mood in any situation,
The emotions made you feel the need to go on these quests,
The characters were dynamic and great,
The cutscenes weren't too long so you could watch them and enjoy it,
The voice acting is not annoying and in some places beneficial,
The game itself is a masterpiece and is worth every cent spent.

JRPG's are to big in this generation. People seem to like to insult them even is the game is good (also half of the people never played one). Xenoblade Chroincles is the game that help the two thing that get dissed the most (the WII and JRPG). the games story is great and have some very good plot twist. The game isnt the best looking game but it still looks preety good and the design is amazing with its great imagination that helps the story structure. The game play is also good make a better verson of Final Fantasy XII. If it looks turn-based its not and it always fun to play. I am a HUGE fan of JRPG soundtracks and Xenoblades has one of the best i have heared ever sence i have played Fianl Fantasy VII. This game shines some light on JRPG's and shpws what they can do. If you didnt like Final Fantasy XIII, Xenblade is the game to get. I must recommended to every one who likes JRPG, action gamers, RPG gamers and People intrested in JRPG's.

Combat is easy to pick up. overall graphics are great. character models are below par however. but that's my only reservation. basically a japanese equivilent of Skyrim for wii owners. i've easily sunk over 70 hours into it and i'm not even close to done yet. so much to explore and do. MUST BUY!!!

With everything from interesting steampunk style machines and weapons, to a large cast of interesting and diverse heroes, to a sword just as memorable as the Masamune, this is the first RPG I've played where I felt like I was playing an RPG unique and refreshing and original as the one and only Chrono Trigger... Live battles with Chrono-Trigger style team up attacks, in this case 'chain attacks', a story unlike any of the typical RPG's of late, and music that is beyond inspiring and breathtaking. This game is simply an unexpected masterpiece, and worth every minute of the Operation Rainfall wait... Is this the swan song of the Wii before the Wii-U arrives? Guess we'll find out once The Last Story is released stateside. ;) The controls work fine, the music is outstanding, the graphics while not perfect have so much scale and depth and color you'll love love them, and the story is shockingly fantastic... So much about this game screams "impressive", so buy it now, I'm already over 50 hours into the game, and I don't even think I'm close to beating it... XENOBLADE CHRONICLES: BUY IT NOW!

The title is just my opinion, but it deffinately is what I think every time I start up my wii. I purchased a wii for my deployment for some simple fun and as I was shopping I saw this game as a gamestop exclusive, it had me curious. so I did some research and came to find this game would be what I would waste most of my free time in this deployment on! it brings me back to my PS2 days when FFXII came out. Xenoblade has it all, the open world, the beautiful landscapes, the quests oh man the quests, the awesome real time battle system, and the entertaining yet captivating British voice acting. Take an MMO and strip it of its online capabilties and added voice acting and thats what you get and oh man it is just awesome! The standard wii controls are suprizingly easy, but I decided to get the classic controller pro and man this is the hard core RPG I've been craving since PS2. The only thing I find cheesy are some of the names and the fact your living on a god, but I mean I'm struggling to find things wrong with this game. I will admit its a shame its on the wii but at the same time its not being polluted by DLC, friends signing in online, and constant updates. This game just works and will define the wii for the rest of its life in terms of RPG's. I really wish that someone would catch on and bring this kind of gameplay and style to next gen consoles.

To call this game a JRPG is to dismiss Star Trek as just a regular sci fi show, or to call Lord of the Rings just another book about elves. It is the genre defining game of it's generation, and many more games will taking influence from it for years to come. The game follows the story of Shulk, one of the few people who can wield the powerful sword, the Monado. While that may sound rather contrived, I can assure you the story is very wonderfully written and makes you want to keep playing just as much as the wonderful gameplay itself does. Unfortunately, to give many more details would spoil it. And speaking of that gameplay, Xenoblade has one of the most exciting battle systems in an RPG. I understand that isn't saying much, but the fights in this game can be very intense. Battles take place in real time, on the map as you encounter enemies. In a system similar to Final Fantasy 12 or World of Warcraft, you will have to balance dealing damage and healing with the aggro (or anger toward) the character you want to have taking the damage. Unlike either game, however, mana is entirely absent and skills are based on cool-downs. Such as casting a healing spell will leave you with about 20-30 seconds in which you can't cast that spell, forcing you to think about when you really want to use a skill and risk not being able to use it later when you need it. The battle system and story also intertwine via the Monado. The sword gives Shulk the ability to see into the future, and as such the player is forwarned via a dramatic but very short warning when a character is about to receive a killing blow in battle. The player is then able to communicate with the party members and plan a strategy to keep that character alive, ranging from changing threat, healing, running a safe distance away, or whatever else you can think of. Also, all of this action takes place on one of the most beautiful and unique fictional worlds this side of Pandora: The Bionis and Mechonis. Two giants, once locked in epic battle, now sit lifeless, with their decaying bodies giving rise to a whole new set of life. On the Bionis is plant/animal life, and machines hail from the Mechonis. And what fascinating, detailed worlds they are! One of the earliest truly breathtaking moments of the game is when the player reaches a point where they can see with clarity the faces of both giants, hanging in the sky. It's an amazing sense of vastness and wonder, and the game only keeps looking better from there. Which as far as looks go, this is the hardest part of Xenoblade to rate. On one hand, modern gaming has not been kind to the poor Wii, and never has it been more obvious than in this game. It looks like a very high-budget Playstation 2 game, being on par with Final Fantasy 12. However, much like FF12, the game understands it's working with limited hardware and doesn't even try to technically amaze you but rather it goes the artistic route. The general look of the game is extremely beautiful and unique, as giant cliffs and overhangs in one scene give way to a beautiful swamp of glowing trees in the next. It's truly a testament of style over power. Which both style and power come into play in the game's beautiful soundtrack. Full of catchy an well-fitting tunes, the game arguably has the best sound track since the original Xeno game, Xenogears. Overall, I'd recommend this game to anyone who has a Wii. It's an amazing game, it's this generation's defining game, and it's going to be a very long time before we see another one like it.

This game will more than likely be overlooked. On that note if you did so and are reading this now then go out and buy yourself a copy this second! The game was imported and that is why GameStop is the only one who has it. The graphics aren't really the best say compared to other systems, heck the best looking game on the Wii to me is the Metroid trilogy, but you have to get past that. The voices are done by a british cast which help the game out A LOT and make it that much better. The story is really good so far and there are ton of side quests! Bottom line is if you want a very rare and amazing game for the Wii then buy this one before you can't find it anywhere and have to pay an arm and leg to get it. I hope everyone who gets this game will not be dissapointed, I know I was NOT!
